How do I open an Nzxt Hush computer case?

Posted by admin On October - 29 - 2009

I need to access the motherboard to add RAM. I purchased the computer fully built, so i have never entered the case before.

First, shut down the PC, and unplug the Power cord, the thick black cord near the fan, that leads directly into the Power supply.

Then, along the edges of the case, in the rear, on the left (when viewed from front) look for 2-4 screws, not the ones going into components, but the ones holding the back of the case, to the frame. They may be thumb screws, which require no tools, or may be standard phillips screws, which require just a simple phillips screwdriver.

Remove the screws, and then, using the indent in the case, on the left hand side (when viewing the front of the case) pull the panel towards the rear, until it comes off.

What is the difference between a computer case and tower?

Posted by admin On October - 27 - 2009

Is their a difference. Like online, i want to buy one and it says, "computer case". Is it only ‘external’?
So a ‘case’ would work as a normal pc?

(im stupit, sorry lol)

They are all computer cases…a tower stands up though and sometimes when they say computer case they mean it to lay horizontally on the desk.

im getting the coolermaster haf computer case and want to paint the inside black. im also putting a red cold catheter light on the inside. what kind of paint should i use and how should i go about doing it. and also what kind of gloss to make it shine should i use.

What you don’t want is a paint that is going to put off fumes when it heats up. I would suggest Krylon or Rustoleum for grills. It is temperature resistant and comes in gloss and semi-gloss. Before painting I would empty the case out as paint and the mother board do not get along at all.

How do you measure computer case fans?

Posted by admin On October - 17 - 2009

How are the sizes of computer case fans measred? We have 80mm and 120mm. Is it on the edge or the diagonal? Should they face blowing in or out?

Hi There,
The overall diameter of the fans (tip to tip) is what is measured.

Fans on the back usually blow the heat out of the case. Especially if they are towards the upper part of the back.
Fans that are part of the power supply always blow out.
Fans on the front usually blow into the case.
Fans on the top blow hot air out.
Fans on the side either blow cool air directly onto a video card or the processor or they blow outside.
Study the requirements of the case and place the fans per their recommendations.

The idea is to cool the hotter parts and remove the hot air.

Hope this helps,
Al

How many fans do I need for a gaming computer case?

Posted by admin On October - 17 - 2009

Hey everybody, I’m looking into buying a new computer case and I was wondering how many fans of what size I might need to cool a high end graphics card? Any case recommendations would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for the answers.

I normally built them with 1 at the front to blow over the hard drives, and 1 at the back to suck out the CPU warm air, by that combination, you are creating a flow to ease the heat.

On powerful cards, I would go for a 12cm fan as the air blow can reach the card, drawing excess heat away too.

Posted by admin On October - 15 - 2009

Not that I know of just get a old case from an old computer store or school. Then saw off side with a dremil and then glue in some plexi glass from the hardware store.

How do I get my computer case open?

Posted by admin On October - 13 - 2009

I have an old HP Pavilion 7030 computer that somebody gave me recently. I want do a few upgrades on it, but I can’t get the darn case open! The case has some sort of narrow slots on the bottom , where one might stick a straight-slot screwdriver, but I can’t figure out exactly how to usse it to remove the panel. Can somebody please help? I don’t have an owner’s manual.

Look at the unit carefully, you only need remove about 4-6 screws to remove the case and they are on the top border and the upper areas on the sides, you only want to remove the very outer case. the trick is sliding it off, use a Flathead screwdriver to looses it after you remove the screws and remember it doesn’t take brute force and should not be plugged in or connected in any way while you are doing this..
