have a 2006 Gateway DX200. Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.93GHz, 504 MB of RAM… I’m looking to buy a new Video Card or Graphics Cars and put in more RAM as well. How hard would it be to completely take everything out of the Gateway, Motherboard and all, and move it to a new computer case that looks good and runs perfectly?
I’m just moving it for looks and the possibility of advancing it further.
I have all the time in the world, hope to do it in one sitting though.

How long do you have?

JK Not that hard as long as you have a case the motherboard can fit in.

I am trying to build a computer with limited experience. I just ordered an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ processor (3 Ghz) and motherboard (ASUS M2N-SLI deluxe AM2) from New Egg. I plan on running some games (maybe spore) but nothing insanely hard-core. Do I need a fancy computer case to house these things? I’m looking for practicality (and frugality) over bells and whistles.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

No you do not need a "spiffy" computer case, but i would get a decent one because it does help with cooling and air flow. I really like the Antec Sonata models because they’re a decent price around $120 cnd and they nice and quiet. They also have side mounting hard drives, and easy mounting Rom drives making for easy installation and looks clean.

Search on google for some computer case reviews and pick one out for your price range and needs.

2.nd is a picture of the hard drives side mounted.

Does all 120mm case fans fit inside any computer?

Posted by admin On January - 7 - 2010

I just bought an Nzxt Alpha (computer case) and it came with 2, 120mm case fans, but i wanted to replace it with 2, 120mm green LED fans. Question is does it matter what brand i buy it from, will it still fit inside my computer?

Practically all 120mm fans would have the same location for the screw holes and would fit most cases. The next thing you should consider would be the connectors. If you want them to connect to the motherboard so that you could monitor or even control the speed, you need fans with 3 pins(w/ rpm sensor) or 4 small pins (w/ sensor and speed control). If you just want them to connect directly to power supply, 4 pin molex connector is enough.

Im building my own computer and just want it to look banging. Any recommendations for a case? Thanks

There are some airbrushed Cooler Master cases that cost $800+… they’re top notch. You can find them on http://www.newegg.com
