I experience some kind of electricity passing when i touch outside the sides of my computer case. Is it normal or there is some electrical leak or something? Please explain.

Seems fairly normal to me; a certain amount of current is perfectly acceptable. However it could be a poorly grounded power supply.

Start by going straight to the source – the power supply. If you’re fairly comfortable handling electricity, check the socket for faults and if it is properly earthed. Else get someone who has experience.

CAUTION! Make sure the power is switched off at all times.

You could consider buying a UPS or a power stabilizer for the socket. Might cost a bit, but worth it for peace of mind.

Hope I helped!

    It is not normal…
The CPU of computers are required to be connected through a 3-pin cable with the UPS. If you have felt some sort of feeble shock then better change the power cable.

No, that is definitely NOT normal.

Assuming we’re not talking about static electricity sparks, the only reason your case can have voltage on it is faulty grounding at your wall power outlet. Someone may have miswired the outlet, or another electrical device on the circuit may be sending electricity to the ground wire.

Your electricity connect do not have earthing connection or connection is damaged!
    So, repair it first.

It happened with me…when i used my old computer…

what ever socket point you are using see whether you have separate wires for earthing and neutral..

you are getting mild sock..cause you are acting as a ground to the source..which should be the case

if you dont find my suggestion helpfull…call up an electrician and get it fixed

If you are experiencing a simple shock, then that could be due to static electricity which you may be picking up from your carpeting, which happens especially if you live in a dry climate. The computer case is grounded. When you pick up a static charge and touch the case, that charge flows through the case, into the outlet, and safely to ground.

If you are experiencing a continuous light shock, then chances are your motherboard or one of the wires from the power supply is damaged and touching the inside of the case. Unplug the tower, take off the side of the case, and look at the wiring coming from the power supply. Make sure none of the wires are damaged and touching any metal inside the case. If you see no problem with the wiring, then the motherboard may inadvertently be sending current down through one of the mounting posts, and should be replaced.

You need a new power supply.

    no its not natural
actually there is no earth wire in ur switch board so u experience tis type of shock
it is better that u consult a electician and ask him for earth wire connection in ur switch board
specially in that shoket in which ur ups is connected.
otherwise it can harm ur hardware parts.
